Are you ready to lead IT strategy and innovation in the Structural Heart business unit of Abbott’s Medical Device Division? As the IT Business Partner Director (also known as the IT Business Relationship Management (BRM) Director), you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our IT landscape to align with and enhance our organizational strategy. Your mission: to determine the best technology path forward for the Structural Heart business within overall Abbott, deliver programs with our corporate delivery teams, support with excellence, consistency, and predictability.  You'll achieve this through a deep understanding of business strategies, evolving technologies, and relevant regulations.

As a key member of the business unit leadership team, you'll collaborate with Senior and Divisional Vice Presidents (SVP and DVPs) and their teams across the entire value chain. In this part of your role you will create opportunities for strategy, leverage, and technology direction in commercial solutions across Medical Device business units, and support Enterprise Accounts globally. Reporting to the DVP IT (divisional CIO), you'll be at the heart of our IT strategy and delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Be the go-to IT partner for the Structural Heart business unit, driving IT strategy, delivery, and support.
  • Lead and sponsor critical IT initiatives, ensuring they align with business goals.
  • Translate business strategy into a dynamic IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects, and applications.
  • Develop and maintain a cutting-edge technology roadmap that aligns with Medical Devices' overall plans and business needs.
  • Govern new business demands with a structured approach.
  • Innovate and implement solutions that enhance business outcomes, either directly or through partners.
  • Champion change and innovation, fostering creativity and supporting those who drive change.
  • Stay ahead of evolving regulatory requirements and ensure they are efficiently addressed in business processes and the IT portfolio.
  • Collaborate with IT staff across Abbott divisions to support cross-divisional initiatives and explore IT synergies.
  • Secure resources to meet the long-term needs of the business.
  • Manage business and IT budgets, project capital/RCE expenditures, and ROI.
  • Drive cost reduction and cost avoidance opportunities.
  • Actively participate in and lead cross-business unit activities as needed, setting IT strategy in the Supply Chain and Distribution space.
  • Lead the BRM team, providing guidance, coaching, and development, and addressing people issues constructively.
  • Promote team morale and a cohesive attitude.
  • Establish staffing/resource plans and determine the right mix of sourcing opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a relevant discipline for the healthcare industry, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 15 years of IT experience in a large or mid-size multinational healthcare company.
  • Broad IT expertise in various disciplines, such as systems development and infrastructure.  Specific experience in B2B commercial systems and processes.
  • At least 5 years of project management and/or direct IT management experience.
  • Experience in setting IT strategy and aligning IT with business needs.
  • Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance and staff oversight.
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
  • Experience with GxP validation and large-scale IT implementations (e.g., ERP, CRM, QSM).
  • Experience with vendor management.
  • Preferred experience in Pharma/Medical Device/Medical Diagnostics or highly regulated industries (e.g., aerospace) in commercial (sales/marketing), R&D product development, and manufacturing business processes related to IT.
  • Broad knowledge of technologies used by internal and external customers and partners.
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills.
  • Experience leading teams, both direct staff and indirect project teams.

The base pay for this position is $193,300.00 – $386,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
