The DPE Aquarius -Capture Services team is seeking a Data Engineer or Lead Data Engineer to backfill a current opening. We are looking for highly motivated and adaptable individuals driven to create robust data solutions working collaboratively with Aquarius Teams and Business Partners to capture incoming documents and classify, route, and store them.

A Day In The Life Of a Data Engineer in Aquarius Capture Services Team

The Data Engineer will be responsible for building out an iterative solution to migrate a current vendor solution to a cloud platform. They will use a growth mindset to solve data solutions as documents are becoming more electronic in nature. They will be innovative to explore new ways of providing intelligent routing and insights as data is processed and fed downstream. They will be part of a small product team and will be responsible for committing to stories and demoing to stakeholders for feedback.

  • Works independently to design, develop, implement, test, and support products for business areas (creating new or modifying existing applications/tools to meet technical specifications or business needs)

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the State Farm organizational structure

Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
  • Experience with object oriented programming using Python
  • Experience with ETL for analytic discovery and production solution deployment across multiple platforms

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with workflow and process orchestration technologies such as AWS Step Functions or Apache Airflow
  • Experience with multiple AWS services or other cloud technologies like Azure
  • Experience with data integration technologies such as Apache Spark
  • Experience with performance, scalability, and resiliency engineering
  • Experience with distributed systems, messaging and integration patterns, distributed state management, etc.
  • Utilizes up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, DataOps and data engineering practices to maintain and create new data solutions.
  • Develops reusable, scalable, and compliant data solutions, with intelligent data management and reusability in mind.
  • Establishes business domain knowledge for existing State Farm data sources and investigates, recommends, and initiates acquisition of new data resources from internal and external open and vendor data sources
  • Identifies critical and emerging technologies, techniques, tools, data sources, and platforms in the data engineering field, including cloud-based solutions, that will support and extend quantitative analytic deployment solutions
  • Familiar with handling datasets containing mixes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Exhibits DataOps mindset where team is accountable for ensuring data aligns to enterprise needs and creating flexible pipelines which deliver quality data solutions faster.
  • Collects and analyzes information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans (e.g., technical proposals)
  • Responsible for the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best-practices and external regulations
  • Applies a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in computer science for data engineering solutions
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages
  • Critical thinking skills to challenge current thinking and apply the right technology to solve problems

Our Benefits

Because work-life-balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

Potential starting salary range: $95,000 - $160,000

Starting salary will be based on skills, background, experience, and location

High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience and living in high cost of labor geographic areas

Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary

REMOTE: Qualified candidates residing outside of a 50-mile radius from a hub location listed below may be considered for 100% remote work arrangements, based on business need and where a candidate currently resides or is currently located.

HYBRID: Qualified candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of a hub location listed below will be classified as a Hybrid employee. In a hybrid work arrangement, you will be able to work remotely most of the time, with in-office expectations of 1 time per quarter. This could consist of a multi-day event per quarter depending on your leader and business need. Any business travel to your assigned hub associated with your in-office expectation would be at your own expense. Your manager will share additional details with you regarding your department’s approach and what it means for you.
